@02:23Ahhhhhhhhh, th-th-thank you!!! ;-; Holy crap no stop, don't watch it so much ahahahh, it makes me so embarrassed... ;-; But, I do love the idea, and I do really really wanna polish this up someday-!! Gyahhh thank youuuuuuuuuuuu, your comments make me feel amazing~ ;-;
@02:03Ahahahah awwwww, thank you! Pfah this is gonna sound ridiculous, but I actually looked up a scene from Fifth Element while working on that parking garage scene... broke up all my seriousness having to re-watch that scene again and again, lmao...
@01:44Oh gosh, thank YOU for the super-flattering comment and the +watch, I'm honored!! I do hope to one day be able to finish/re-do this animation into a fully polished thing, I do love it... and your support is so encouraging, thank you! ♥
@03:39Ahhhh, thank you so much for the super-kind comment!! I definitely do want to be able to fully render/polish up the whole animation someday, but I need to re-do a lot of the scenes to make them better... mainly that mush in the middle, hahahah! But gosh, thank you so much! That the concept/story could be touching/emotional to the audience is the greatest praise I could receive! ♥
@01:47Ahahahahahah, I just love drawing Obizuth that much, she's just scampered into all my doodles! Hope you don't mind!! xD
And ahhhhhhhh but you studied animation!! You know how much work I still need to do with depth and all that... but, gosh, still so glad you liked this, praise from someone who did animation for a while is the highest of all hahahah! ♥
Final project from my Intro to 2D Animation class last semester--yeah, way back in May. Took me that long just to build up the courage/get enough distance from my own embarrassment to put this up here. In a way I'm still kind of proud of it: just seeing what I managed to do in, oh, 6 weeks or so? in a class I "took" just because I wanted to learn animation... but obviously, I bit off way more than I could chew, and realized just how far I still am from becoming anything close to an animator.
Please don't critique this for the animation or concept or composition; I know it's poor, rushed, cheesy and disconcerting. Most of it makes me wince. I know I really, really need to practice depth. But, well... I guess, I just really wanted to show you this roughest version of the animation I WANTED to make. I did this for my final project because this is what I dreamed of every time I listened to this song. This is Ian's song, and Ian's beginning. I'm not even sure if I want to keep this idea--it's cheesy as hell, I know, but for now it's what I'm running with until I can come up with something better. The concept's gonna stay the same either way, because this has always been a story of the fall. For those of you who've been following Angel Dust (bless you guys, seriously), maybe this'll help illuminate something? I hope it adds a little to the story.
The song is "One Day You Will Teach Me To Let Go Of My Fears," by sleepmakeswaves, used with their permission in this animation. You can listen to the unedited version here, and even download it if you like! Thanks again to this band for letting me use their music; it's the whole reason this animation even exists.
For anyone who spotted the cameos, they are: ~shark-bomb's Tudor, =theblackbutterfly's Obizuth, and of course a Cris from AD. And yes, I did look up Treasure Planet's intro scene a million times, but no, this was not actually inspired by it. This is the beginning to my own story, Angel Dust: [link]
Put together with Photoshop CS5 and Toon Boom Animate Pro. Also available on Vimeo, here
Thank you everyone for the support, you guys are the best!!! ♥
I can't remember whether I've commented on this before, but I just re-watched and just...oh my god. It is so, so beautiful. Whatever horrible things you have to say about it in the description, I love it. And I do hope you finish it one day.
Oh, my gosh, and I just had this comment sitting around in my inbox all day cuz every time I scrolled past it'd make me smile. Thanks so much for making my day, it's just--such a kind thing for you to say, thank you! Comments like yours have really made me re-assess this piece, and I can feel kind of almost proud of it--thank you. I really, really do hope to be able to finish this up one day-!
This was ka-reh-zey!! D: As for a course you just 'took' to learn animation, your project was sooooo goooooood. I can't see how you can say that it was poor, cheesy, or disconcerting. Rushed though, probably xD. But you did a fine job at it lady!! D: UGH. UGH... UGHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh.....
The music was so fitting too... and that feather, knitted everything together so nicely- from beginning to end xD. If you do have the time to clean up it up, I WANT TO WATCH IIIIIIIIIIIT D:::::::::::.
I know that even though it's a short 3 minute video, it took you months to complete D:. But, MAN, if you could do like, little mini-series of this, how friggin' awesome would that be HUH??
You make me want to learn animation too ;A;. Is that program easier than Flash? Because I tried learning Flash and that just... took too long for me xD *shot.
Keep doing what you're doing!! OHMANTHATWASSOGOOD!!!D::::
U-U-UWAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH homg Aki Aki why you so nice to meeeeeeeeeeeeee ;A; ;A; ;A; And, and, I do promise, someday I'll re-do/finish this animation up, I will! I really do wanna be able to complete this piece, ahh~
And, mmmm, yes, I found that Toon Boom was a lot easier than Flash! ...Flash drives me positively nuts, too... that and it kept crashing on my computer. 8D (But then again I just hate Adobe interfaces hahahaha.)
But seriously, GWAH! Thank you SO MUCH for your super-kind comment!! I'll keep it with me and have it warm my heart these cold February days. ;-;
@03:42whaiouhsoifdhasoi oh my goodness the entire feather falling scene and him falling down and it's so beautiful *w* it's so fluid and my goodness, please finish this my mind is just waiting for the colors, I love the feel of it and the music is perfect! I can almost feel the wind and harsh sun on me kekekekke fantastic job darling!!!!
