I have to admit, it's nice to take a break from painting and do some digital lines again. I think coming back to them after gaining a bit more confidence in anatomy helps a lot, hahah;;
Anyway! A reference sheet for Ian--I really wanted to figure out his look once and for all, and I'm actually pretty happy with how this came out! (Nevermind he doesn't actually, ahm, look any different than when I first drew him in the AD comic... /cough) Content to let my style take me where it will, for now...
But, yeah. He might look nice, but he's really not a compassionate or likeable guy. Ian takes anyone trying to treat him nicely as a sign of pity and has a tendency to overreact, aggressively.
Random aside... Ian actually comes from a pretty well-off family, but that just makes him useless and unskilled now that he's on the streets. He's gotten a lot tougher since he started to hang out around Cris's gang, though. He actually uses his looks to help him steal things, or sneak in--Cris finds this useful, but still hates the kid's guts.
...I know that the AD characters are pretty boring appearance-wise, but that's because really, this is all about the story.
Anyway, yep! I'm working on a Cris reference right now, but he's fighting me tooth and nail, so we'll see how this goes... And a Cris to go with! [link]
This should be a movie. I say movie as opposed to book because I'm lazy and don't read as much as I used to.
Creating more realistic looking characters is always more engaging that fantasy creatures...because you can relate to it more. You can relate to the way they think or behave and you can share similar experiences with them.
I-I-I actually have a great deal of this planned out visually, movie-style... I even know the song I want to sync the introduction to, down to the seconds... >>; AUGH. IF ONLY, G. IF ONLY. ;A;
I WANT TO, G I WANT TO SO BAD LIKE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW
......BUT THE SONG IS 6 MINUTES LONG AND I KNOW IT WOULD BE SUICIDE /SOB
......but yeah I'm actually trying to get into the 2D animation class so I can learn how to do this for making... the one animation.. I have in mind..... /cries softly
You could always do some cheats to get it done. Do that Pokemon style of animation where there's not actually a lot of movement and just a static image being moved around.
