Description
Today's the last day of Chinese New Year festivities or something of the sort so, here we go! : )
Anyway. Not totally satisfied with this, but still learned a lot! I think I want to practice working with masking fluid a lot more, because it can do some pretty amazing things. This picture was kind of a mess of attempted things though, and not so wonderfully done. Don't think I'm going to try washes on this size paper again, it just... doesn't work. :<
I also struggled a lot with colors here. On finishing the background/wash I just couldn't figure out how to color him without making him clash horribly, but also not blend right into the BG... in the end, not a total success, but, I'll keep trying! The dragon part was also... supposed to be a lot more... subtle... >>;
(Just, pretend he doesn't look like he decapitated a dragon, haha;;;; )
But, painting linelessly was fun--absolutely no pens used here, just watercolor and brush! I think I'll try to do it more, if it, ah, doesn't kill me... xD;

I would love to learn how to use watercolor like this. The detail, the hues, the posture, the design--- all extraordinary. It is so creative. Fantastic job, and keep it up!
