It's that time again folks, I'll be participating in this year's Artslam!! It's just a great community to work on your art/stories, and post and talk about it for the months of June-August, so I'll be hopping aboard for sure~
We'll see how things go though; lately I've been prioritizing writing over drawing; I still find time for sketches before work/during lunch though, so hopefully I can keep up, haha.
Sign-ups are still open for just a lil bit longer before we kick off in June, so if you haven't signed up yet, go do that!! If you're looking for some motivation, to set some goals and get some feedback on your work this summer, then definitely consider joining!
In other news, scripting/outlining has been going well. I actually finished a first draft of my first script--it's a pilot episode for (Little Red) Wolf basically hahaha, it was fun but really rewarding to finish!!
Now, as for editing it....
So, I'm starting the outline for Iris now, but hoooooboy that's gonna be a mess to untangle and develop, it still needs a lot of work for sure, before I can start getting to the actual writing and comicking, but it feels really good to be making progress! Here's a sneak peek at my halfway-done beatboard, for anyone curious:
I basically aim for 3 pages of writing every day, it's been a good goal for me to set. I feel bad I don't have much to show for it, but it's doing me a lot of good to finally figure out these scenes and stories! (I'll try to finish up some old-ish comic pages to post soon though!)
Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Bye-bye 2019, onwards to 2020!
Man, I don't post journals here a lot anymore, huh? I've just gotten so darn busy, sorry, but I'll try my best to catch up soon-!
Anyway, 2019 was pretty productive! I didn't manage a comic page every single week due to traveling/etc, but I still accomplished... I believe 42 pages, and that's pretty darn great! I feel like I'm really settling into the process of making pages for Iris now, and I'm pretty proud of what I accomplished.
I took some time off the second half of this year and did a ton of traveling--did a huge, 19-day Western US road trip from LA up to Vancouver, then over to Banff National Park and down through Montana, Utah,
Iris the comic is launched-!
This is something I've been thinking about for a while now, but yes, I've decided to start posting my comic Iris today, on my birthday. I wanted to do it as a huge thank you to all of the people who've supported me over the years, and I hope that you all will enjoy it-!
This is still a huge experiment to me, so please bear with, there's sure to be kinks for me to iron out as I go, but for now I'm super excited to share this comic with you all-! I've been working on it for almost a year now and have a substantial-enough backlog of pages that I feel confident enough to start posting... my plan right now is to update one page a week, a rate t
Reflections on 2018, onwards to 2019
So, yeah... I definitely don't update here very often anymore, huh? Sorry 'bout that.
Well, anyway--last year, I set myself the goal of drawing a comic page a week. I didn't succeed--I only managed 22 or so pages, give or take (some not normal-format, some random sketches/off-topic, some re-done repeatedly). Yet here I am, setting myself the same goal for 2019, because 22 pages was still far better than none.
All I can say for sure is--I've started and am a few pages into Iris, my first real attempt at making it in a comic format. Comics feel like they go against all of my instincts right now, unfortunately--instead of one drawing with
Updates 03.25.2018
Just wanted to let you all know that so far my New Year's Resolution of drawing one comic page a week is still ongoing, and that I've finished my short comic "Right"! I'll continue posting pages once a week on Mondays, but it is now complete at 24 pages!! (Ironic, since this started as a 24 hour comics day project, haha.)
But yeah, I finished 12 pages in these past 3 months; slow progress I know, but better than nothing, given I'm still working full-time (and also pulling a lot of OT on some freelance boarding, haha), so I'm content with this rate for now, though I'll also try once in a while to do two pages a week, maybe.
Anyway, in the
