Lai Over the Years... Improved

Decided to just upload this as a new file since I changed a lot about it. Auuuuugh how did this even take me three hours just to edit, I don't know... I just, I seriously don't get along with Photoshop... >>;

ANYWAY. ALL MY SUFFERING, HERE FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE.

REFLECTIONS ON 2011: I didn't create many polished, finished illustrations this year, but I do feel like I grew a lot more as an artist. Working smaller and faster in oekaki really helped me learn more about coloring/shading and anatomy. And discovering a painting style that made me work quickly but also more confidently also helped--it made me more willing to attempt new things too, like drastic lighting and such, though I still have a long way to go in that.

Also, taking the MICA class made me really productive, which made me really, really happy. Most of my comics were much too cluttered, but, yeah.

And doing ScriptFrenzy for the first time this year was brilliant--it finally helped me figure out what formatting I needed to get me to churn out pages of my novel, rather than always getting stuck editing and re-editing. I have hope of actually finishing Iris now, and that's just so immensely rewarding for me, after 4+ years of frustration.

Finally, I'm over the hump of the worst of my college years (Junior year was by far the worst), and so that's made me a lot happier, too. I'm slowly figuring out more about who I am as a person too and what I want to do, which is intimidating and frustrating but also really rewarding.

So, yeah. I don't have much to show for it here on dA, but 2011 really helped me grow a lot, and I'm grateful for it all.
